Czech league
History
We (Aleš Rybka, Pavel Režný) have been asked, on account of players‘ demand and experience from Euroleague, to create a system similar to Euroleague but oriented solely as an individual competition. Similar league is already played by Polish players, the author of the thought to introduce such a system in the Czech Republic was Vláďa Nipoti. Czech Gomoku league has been introduced after approval from Czech Gomoku and Renju Federation as an official competition. Players from Slovakia also participate in CGL.
How is it played?
It is played individually, pairing is done according to the Swiss system. 4 games are played, another 2 shortened ones in case of a draw. Games are played on server www.playok.com. The first season is starts in the year 2008/2009.www.playok.com
Miscellaneous
More than 70 players have registered at the beginning of the CGL thanks to a massive campaign. However, a lot of players were inactive during the first rounds. There is still over 40 players now which is considered as a sufficient number. Pavel Režný has done a lot of work while preparing CGL, database system and system itself had to be completely changed.
Romanian players have shown an interest in our system (web page with database) and they have started their own Romanian Gomoku League using this system.
